Wahconah Regional High School uses a comprehensive college and career readiness program called Naviance.com to assist students with their college/career search and application process.  Students will be able to find application materials, request letters of recommendation, schedule a visit with a college representative and complete transcript requests directly through Naviance.

If your school requires College Board or ACT Test scores (SAT I), (ACT), be sure to take all required tests by the school published deadline.  You can register online for the SAT test at www.CollegeBoard.org; you can register online for the ACT test at www.actstudent.org.  Students will need to report scores directly to the schools through the test agency.

It is necessary to submit a transcript request on Naviance.com before we can submit your guidance recommendation form and official transcript.  You must inform your guidance counselor when you submit a transcript request through Naviance, through e-mail or in person, so we are aware that you would like for us to submit that information.

Letters of recommendation from teachers and others (Follow Each College Requirements Carefully):

Begin requesting your reference letters early in the year; this will give the writer time to compose a more thoughtful and accurate letter. Your student activity sheet, parent brag sheet, and student brag sheet are available through the document library in Naviance.com and in the guidance office. These forms must be completed carefully. They are extremely helpful to us in writing your letters of recommendation.

Students can check through their Naviance.com account to determine if the letters and required forms have been submitted. Remember many letters are being written at this time and it is important to be patient and consistent in following up with teachers/counselors.

Students should thank the writers of their recommendation letters. (A handwritten note is strongly encouraged.)

Students will submit their own applications online. If you are using the common application, Naviance will communicate directly with Common Application through a link matching process.  Please see your counselor or follow the attached video instructions for linking the Common Application to your Naviance account.

Please request transcripts through Naviance at least two weeks prior to your application deadline.  This gives our office time to submit the necessary information.

If we are not given ample time to process your college or scholarship information, there is a chance we will not be able to meet your deadlines.  .

10 DAYS PROCESSING TIME IS REQUIRED

(The Guidance Department will be closed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas vacations.)

The Common Application (informally known as the Common App) is an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to any of nearly 900 member colleges and universities in 48 states and the District of Columbia, as well as in Canada, China, and many European countries.

 ---------NAVIANCE---------

We are pleased to introduce Naviance Student – a website that you can use to plan for college and a career. Naviance Student is linked with Naviance™, a service that we use in our office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, as well as to warehouse and send student’s college supporting documents.

Naviance Student allows you to:

Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers

Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past

Research careers – Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments

Create future plans – Create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned to you by the school to better prepare yourself for your future college and career goals.

Naviance Student also lets us share information with you about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other resources for college and career information. You can also use the site to stay in communication with the counseling office.

You were given your Naviance Student log-in information last spring. If you have questions about Naviance please see your Guidance Counselor.
